Business
Most people understand what it means when they hear about “affordable housing” - which basically means housing which someone living and working in the community can afford to buy, or housing for rent available at a monthly rent which can be afforded by someone on a local wage. Trotwood is a new suburb being developed at Okahenge Extension 1 of Nkurenkuru Town in Kavango West, consisting of 320 free standing residential housing units designed specifically for low and middle-income families.

The houses at Trotwood range in price from N$295,000 for a one bedroom house, N$375,000 for a two-bedroom house, N$570,000 for a three-bedroom house and 750,000 for a four-bedroom house.

The target residents of Trotwood are school teachers, medical professionals and the men and women in uniforms from the ministries of defence, health and social welfare, safety and security, as well as all other government ministries and private individuals.

History
Established in 2018 as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the development of the Trotwood Suburb, Groot Trotwood Development (Pty) Ltd is 80% owned by Groot Management Systems (Pty) Ltd with a Nkurenkuru-based company owning 20% shareholding of the development.

Products
The urban planning permission has been applied for the following offerings:

  • 320 free standing residential homes composed of one-bedroom, two-bedroom, three-bedroom and four bedroom houses.
  • 160 resort style apartments for rent (ranging from bachelor, one bedroom, two bedroom and three-bedroom apartments).
  • A club house for the Trotwood residents.
  • A community swimming pool for the Trotwood residents.

Housing Composition
A total of 320 free standing residential homes composed of one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom houses, divided as follow:

  • 50 one-bedrooms
  • 110 two-bedrooms
  • 105 three-bedrooms
  • 55 four-bedrooms
