Groot Sands Appoints the Technical Team for the Groot Silica Sand
Processing Factories in Oshikango
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- OSHIKANGO, Namibia, June 6, 2018 (Groot Sands) --
Groot Sands (Pty) Ltd has appointed Windhoek, Namibia-based Burmeister and
Partners as the Consulting Engineers and Northern Ireland, UK-based
CDE as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) firm
for the construction, engineering and equipment installation, on a
turnkey basis, for the Groot Silica Sand Processing Factory in Oshikango
of Helao Nafidi Town in Ohangwena Region.
Groot Sands has been formed to exclusively supply quality silica sand
products to the Groot Glass Manufacturing Factories in Tses Village of

of industrial sands used in the glass, oil and gas industry, and in a wide
range of industrial applications with an annual production capacity of 1.5
million tonnes for the exclusive supplying of silica sand to Groot Glass

Groot Sands received its Environmental Clearance Certification in 2018
according to The Environmental Management Act of 2007 by the Ministry of
Environment and Tourism of the Republic of Namibia.

The total estimated costs to set up the Groot Silica Sand Processing
Factories in Oshikango is about USD $30 million (NAD $382.95 million) and
the Company expects to create about 1,500 direct jobs at its sand quarries
and processing factories in Eeshoke Village and the surrounding areas.
Initially planned for setup at Okahenge Village of the Onamutayi District
in Okatana Constituency of Oshana Region, the construction of the Groot
Sands factories in Eeshoke Village in Oshikango of Ohangwena Region, is
expected to start in coming months and will last for about 30 weeks to
